Sister Carine Johnson was called home by God on August 23, 2020, to our Lord and Savior at Southside Regional Medical Center. She is no longer in pain, and she will be dearly missed. She is now at peace.
Carine Johnson, the beloved wife of Charles Johnson was born January 26, 1958, in Southampton County, VA, to the late Linwood and Lucy Ellis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Lindwood Ellis; her brothers, Lawerance, Robert, Richard and Earl and a sister Annette Ellis.
She leaves to cherish her memories Marie Grindstead and Lynette Ellis, seven grandkids; Monqua Suiter (Antonio), Shannon Brown, Penn Grindstead, Justice Ellis, Brianna Ellis, Johnathan Ellis, and Brandon Ellis, eight great grandkids; Amariana Woodson, Antonio Woodson, Jr., Jayron Ellis, Naomi Brown, Mariah Ellis, Noah Holliman, her brothers and sisters, Virginia Gilliam, Sisroe Ellis, Dorothy Edwards (Anthony), Noreen Johnson, Joe Ellis (Debra), Josephine Jones, Helen Jones, Ronald Ellis, Alex Ellis and Tony Ellis.
Sister Carine Johnson leaves behind those who love her. She was more than a woman; she was a fighter. She was the stronger person we knew. She overcame so many obstacles in her life. She was many things in her life; mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and an aunt to many.
She made an impact on many people. She went to church and Bible study faithfully, and taught Sunday School.
A Graveside Celebration will be held 11am Monday August 31, 2020 at Booker T. Cemetery Wakefield, VA. Viewing will take place Sunday August 30, 2020 at Shivers Funeral Chapel from 2-4pm. Mrs. Johnson is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Johnson and Ellis Family in your thoughts and prayers.
