Wesley "Smoke" Lee Pierce, 82, went on to be with the Lord at home Friday, January 12, 2018 in Smithfield, Virginia. He was born March 29, 1935 to Pearl Pierce in Surry, Virginia.Wesley married Shirley Clarke on August 20, 1954. They were happily married for 64 years. At 16 years-old he begin working, his first place of employment being H.B. Johnson Mill, in Bacon Castle; he also worked on State Highway for a number of years after leaving the mill. He went on to work at Luter's Packing Plant, where he became a supervisor of the Bacon Room. Wesley eventually retired from International Longshoremen Association as a member of Local Union No. 1248 in the late 80s. Wesley loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren deeply. He enjoyed traveling, good food and family gatherings. He was known for being a hard-worker and a very energetic go-getter. Wesley was a pioneer of Bacon Castle; setting the trend for fine cars and motorcycles. Survivors include his wife Shirley, his two daughters, Vanessa Allmond(Vincent) of Smithfield and Kathy Pierce of Smithfield. His five sons, Charles Wesley Pierce of North Carolina, Gilbert Lee Pierce of Smithfield, Larry Lee Pierce(Mrs. Pierce) of Smithfield and Barry Lee Pierce Sr.(Shetara) of Smithfield and Jermaine Clarke of Maryland. His 13 grandchildren, Bobby Cypress, Kenithia Cypress, Charles Pierce Jr(Nethie), Adrian Carter(Rahel), Dewayne Pierce, Duran Pierce, Aaron Pierce, Quanisha Robinson, Bacari Thompson, Zanni Pierce, Jay'Vion Pierce, Zyria Pierce and Barry Pierce Jr. Four brothers, Joe Lyttle(Mary-deceased) of Virginia; George Lyttle(Dottie), of Virginia; Melvin Lyttle(Virginia), of Virginia; James Lyttle(Judy), of Virginia; three sisters, Orine Jones(Calvin Jones-deceased) of Virginia; Rosetta Lyttle of Virginia; and Nan Francis Brown(Harold) of Virginia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1pm Thursday January 18, 2018 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be held Wednesday January 17, 2018 from 4-7pm.
