Tyrice Allmond Glover

Tyrice Allmond Glover, 87 passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Thursday August 10, 2017. She was born on July 30, 1930, to the late Claiborne B Allmond, Sr. and the Late Lillie Mae (Liggins) Allmond in Longview, Isle of Wight County, Virginia. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings. She was educated in the public schools of Isle of Wight County. After graduating high school in 1948 she was employed at the Smithfield Packing Company and retired in 1993 after 37 consecutive years of dedicated service. She married Isaiah Finno Glover in December, 1948. To this union, three children, Jonathan Finno, Arthur Tyrone and Monica Fay were born. Tyrice found Christ early in her life and was a faithful member and pianist for the youth choir of Jones Grove Baptist Church for many years. Later she joined Christian Home Baptist Church where she served as pianist for 50 years. She was involved in multiple ministries and programs including the Workshop Choir of Tidewater. Tyrice was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Carrollton chapter number 165 and a valued member of the Allmond Heritage Foundation giving encouragement and support to graduating high school seniors. Tyrice was known for her tremendous work ethic and quiet, calm demeanor. She loved life and people and was devoted to family and friends. She loved to cook and was famous for her lemon meringue and sweet potato pies, coconut cakes and potato salad. Family meant everything to her! Tyrice leaves to cherish her memory three devoted children, Jonathan (Linda) of Fayetteville, NC, Tyrone (Thomaysa) of Gold River, CA, and daughter Monica Wertz (George) of Suffolk, VA; Twelve loving grandchildren, Antwan, Terrence, LaTysha, Eric R, Elizabeth, Christina, Tyrone Jr., Jason, George, Jeremy, Jamar, Jasmine, eleven beautiful great grandchildren, Eric J, Kawan, Anyah , Justin , Christen, Adrian, Allyson, Zachary, Nathaniel, , Giovanni, and Hendrix and 1 lovely great granddaughter, Imajin and a host of nieces and nephews and one very special cousin, Thelma Hawkes, daughter of her oldest deceased sister, Edith. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Christian Home Baptist Church, Windsor, Va. Viewing will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the chapel. Interment will be in the New Jones Grove Baptist Church cemetery, Windsor, Va. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
