Steven L. Smith

Steven Lewis Smith was born October 18th 1955 and on Friday August 21st 2015 he went home to be with the Lord. He was the Second Son of William L and Ora L Smith (both now deceased) and he was the Loving Husband of Veda A. Smith who enjoyed 21 years of a happy marriage with him. Steve was a student at Olney High School in Philadelphia, and received his GED whilst in the United States Air Force. During his service of 24 years of which he retired as E7 Master Sergeant. He gained many commendations and Accolades for great service, which concluded his Honorable Discharge. Steve traveled the world with the military, enjoying all the many assignments he had in his career. Steve had a very close and intimate relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He took on the responsibility for being a powerful witness for the Lord and his spirit was infectious to all (he was a mighty man of valor). He led and guided his family in the Lord, and made sure that they had a full and complete understanding of who YAHWEH was. Steve was blessed to have two Daughter's Chelsea and Carly who he adored, also Son Craig and Daughter Michaila in the UK. Steve and Veda were also blessed with being able to adopt and raise Chelsea's Daughter K'yaira as their own, and she has brought so much joy in their lives. Steve also leaves behind his Grandchildren Parish, Steven, Elissa, Elloise, George, Jordan, Megan, Andre', Jermaine, Paige and Kieran. He leaves Siblings two Brothers William and Jeff and his Sister's Joyce, Carol, Kathy and (deceased) Joan and Delores; also many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews, Nieces and Friends the count is infinite of who loved him . Steve meant so much to so many people, and everyone he met he touched their hearts. He is going to be so missed for his Love and kindness. Steve's will be buried as his wish in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date with Military Honors. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3pm Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Ebenezer Methodist Church, Suffolk, Va. Viewing will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 2-5pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery.
