Shirley M. Scott

Shirley M. Scott transitioned peacefully into eternal rest September 17, 2017 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. She was born May 9,1962 to the late Alfloyd and Odell Virginia Reid Scott, She attended Isle of Wight County Public Schools and graduated in 1980. She began a career in Radiological Protection Service, as a contractor for Surry Nuclear Power Station, North Anna Nuclear Power Station and Brunswick Nuclear Power Station from 1984 until she became ill in 2015, retiring with 31 years of service. Shirley was a faithful member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, and a member of the Virginia State Choir. She was soft spoken, and well known for her giving heart and loving spirit. She enjoyed shopping, reading romance novels and was an excellent seamstress. Shirley is survived by the love of her life, her son Brian Christopher Nathan Scott; godson Darian L.C. Scott (Danielle), Newport News; five brothers, Floyd Scott (Shirley T), Smithfield, VA, Bobby Scott (Theresa), Smithfield, Michael Scott (Felicia), Smithfield, George Scott (Darlene), Smithfield, Ronald Scott (Thelma), Lexington Park, MD; four sisters, Evelyn Holloman, (Len), Sharon P Scott, Newport News, Charlotte Newsome (Gilbert), Carrollton, Angela Artis (Larry), Smithfield; two uncles, Hebert Williams (Paternal) and Thomas Watson (Maternal), three maternal aunts, Doretha Mollett, Marylee Hemmings and Peggy Reid, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield, Va. Viewing will be from 4-7pm on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the chapel. Interment will be in Christian Home Baptist Church cemetery, Windsor, Va. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
