Rufus Junious Holloman, Sr.
On Sunday, April 14, 2024, our PaPa, Father, Grandfather, and brother entered into eternal rest at Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing in Suffolk, Virginia. Our hearts were truly broken but we know God does all things for His purpose.
Rufus was a native of Isle of Wight County. He was born on March 26, 1941 to the late Junie Gay Holloman and Walter Liggins. He joined Mount Sinai Baptist Church at an early age and remained a member until God called him home.
He attended Isle of Wight Training School. At the age of 12, Rufus started working on the farm to help provide for his family, his mother, and his aunt Gracie. In the field of Agriculture, he was known as the greatest and gifted farmer in the Isle of Wight County. He received numerous compliments on his ability on how straight his rows were while planting different types of crops, such as: peanuts, corn, soybean, wheat, and cotton.
On January 6, 1961, he married the love of his life Ida, known as his “Quality Lady” and to this union was born three children. Rufus was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and an awesome provider. He loved and cherished his family. PaPa was always willing to share his love and kindness to his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved and devoted wife of sixty-three years Ida S. Holloman; his three wonderful children Rufus J. Holloman, Jr. (Jackie), Christopher A. Holloman (Francine) and Sabrina L. Addison (Randy); his grandchildren Rufus III, Chris II, Precious and Adriana; four great-grandchildren; his sisters Mae Saunders (Ernest), Rose Stewart and Cynthia King; his brothers Vern Liggins and Gary Vaughan and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Last but not least a special and devoted brother-in-law Melvin Woodrow Raines; three sisters in- law Mary Brown, Minnie King and Thelma Whitley
