Ruby Mae Wiggins passed away suddenly, Monday, August 8, 2022 in Smithfield, VA. She was born to the late Sally Bailey on March 14, 1937. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Milton H. Wiggins, January 15, 1955.
Ruby attended Isle of Wight Public Schools. She was a housewife and enjoyed cooking, gardening and crossword puzzles. She loved to laugh and joke with her family. She enjoyed the neighborhood kids that always somehow found their way to her house. Ruby would always keep an eye out for all the kids just to make sure everyone were safe. She loved to bake her coconut pies. She loved her church and served on the deaconess board, hospitality, senior choir, once the choir treasurer and treasurer of the pastor’s aide. She was the church custodian for twenty-nine years. She would always say that “the Lord will make a way out of no way.”
She was preceded in death by sisters Thelma Daye, Delma Edwards, Ernestine Batten, Laura Batten and Louisa Chapman, brothers Phillip Bailey, James Garfield Bailey and Matthew Batten and son Anthony.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years Milton H Wiggins, children Alvin (Verline), Joyce and Stanley, brothers Ernest (Jake) Bailey and Calvin (Germaine), four grandkids Stacy Livermon, Alvin Bailey II, Antoinette Goldstone and Darrell Roberts, seven great grandkids and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00pm on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at New Bethany United Christian Church, Smithfield. Viewing will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 2-5pm at the chapel. Please keep the Wiggins family in your prayers.
