Reginald D. Diggs, Sr. transitioned from this life on Thursday, January 4, 2024

Reginald Donzell Diggs, Sr., also known affectionately as "Reggie," was born to the late George Junius Diggs Sr. and Catherine Eley Diggs.  Reggie is preceded in death by Maternal Grandparents Jake Eley Sr. and Louise Eley, Paternal Grandparents George Newby and Estelle Diggs, and many well-loved aunts and uncles.

Reggie is survived by his children: She’a R. Thornton (Rodney), Reneisha C. Diggs, Shawniece Diggs Jones, Reginald D. Diggs, Jr. (Erica), and Ozias J. Diggs, along with eight grandchildren. Reggie is also remembered by his brother, George Diggs Jr., and four sisters: Sherry Diggs Rowe (Larry), Charlayne Diggs Clarke (Preceded in death Dwight Clarke), Gwendolyn Diggs Stevens (Robert), and Shaun Diggs Veale (Jack), two aunts, Mable Eley Howard and Margaret Eley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Reggie, an exceptionally skilled auto mechanic, possessed the ability to diagnose vehicles by sound alone. Clients trusted that their vehicles would operate seamlessly after Reggie's expertise. He took immense pride in his work and had a passion for watching NASCAR races, Professional Bull Riding, Boxing, and Football.

Devoted to his children and grandchildren, Reggie cherished the moments spent with them. On September 26, 1999, he dedicated his heart to God at St. Paul Holiness Church where he actively participated in the Spirit Gospel Singers choir and the Greeter’s Ministry. Then in 2022, he surrendered to the call of the Holy Spirit and rededicated his heart to God.

Known for his laughter and humor, Reggie was a strong-willed and strong-minded individual with a good heart. His memory will endure through his family and those who loved him. May he rest peacefully in the arms of the LORD.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:30pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 3-6pm at the chapel.  Please keep the Diggs family in your thoughts and prayers.
