Rachie Dale Robinson

Rachie Dale (Robbie) Robinson, age 69, was called home on Monday October 28, 2024 i Newport News, VA. 

Rachie Robinson was born on April 28, 1955, to the union of the late Howard and Estelle (Joyner) Robinson in Suffolk, Virginia. He spent his youth and young adulthood in Smithfield, Virginia with his family. 

Rachie accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He was a student at Westside High School, and later graduated from Smithfield High School. After graduation, he attended Tidewater Community College. Rachie was employed by Smithfield Packing Company and became the youngest African American to hold the position of Supervisor in their corporate office. He was later employed at Newport News Shipbuilding, and worked as a mechanic at Robinson’s Auto Clinic, The Family Business. 

In 1982, Rachie was married to Vera Diane (Pinner) Robinson. To this union was born his only child, Sherrod. Rachie was later married to the late Margurite (Smallwood) Robinson, 

Rachie was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Estelle; his brother Linwood Robinson; his special nephew, Carl Perez Moore. 

Rachie leaves to cherish his memory: His son, Sherrod Robinson (Judy); his stepchildren: Joy James, Kevin James and Grandison James; Beloved sister, Barbara Shivers (Robinson) ; his sister-in-law, Toni Robinson ; one grandson Jamere Robinson-Davis ; four step grandchildren Chyna, Cierra, Brea and Jaila ; 10 great grandchildren ; special cousins: Andrew Joyner Jr. and Loring Joyner, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. 

On Monday, November 11, 2024 viewing will take place from 3-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00am on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Ivy Baptist Church, 50 Maple Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607.  Interment will follow the service n Christian Home Baptist Church Cemetery, 20123 Longview Drive, Windsor, VA 23487.  Please keep the Robinson family in your prayers.
