Pecolia "Penny"Emma Spratley Daye, 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in Windsor, Virginia. Born on April 8, 1938, in Smithfield, Virginia, she was the daughter of Robert and Georgetta Spratley. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, and attended Columbia School of Law pursuing a law degree. She was employed at Columbia University, and worked as a Financial Aid Advisor. Pecolia was a member of a Seventh Day Adventist church in New York City. She enjoyed serving her students on campus, and assisting them with paying for their college education. She will be remembered for her witty personality, beautiful smile, dynamite shape, and spending time with family. When she was unable to attend church, she enjoyed watching religious programs on television. Pecolia was predeceased in death by her parents; Robert and Georgetta Spratley and siblings; Cherrierebecca Tucker and Robert Spratley, Jr. She is survived by her siblings; Elizabeth Edwards, Thelma Skeeter, Floyd Spratley, Walter Spratley, and Charles Spratley, Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11am Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Shivers Funeral Chapel Smithfiled, Va. Viewing will be held Monday, October 30, 2017 from 4-7pm at the chapel. Interment will be in the Ebenezer cemetery, Windsor, Va. Professional services are entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
