"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith". Olivia Batten was born December 2, 1931 to the late Richard White Sr. and the late Laura White of Smithfield, Va. She received her education at Isle of Wight County public school. She was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren.Olivia loved the Lord and accepted Him at an early age. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, playing the piano and she loved her family. Olivia was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Burles Batten of 64 years. Her mother, Laura White, her father Richard White Sr. and her sister Lillie W. Robinson. Olivia leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life; two sons, Lannie Batten Sr. (Tessie), Reginald Batten and a daughter, Wanda Parker (Steve). She is also survived by one brother, Richard White (Rosa Mae) of Smithfield, VA. Three sisters, Mae W. Marrow (Clifford) of Dalton, GA, Lillian C. Robinson (William) of Hampton, VA, Irene W. Holmes (Stanley) of Newport News, VA, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A Celebration Of Life Service will be held 2pm Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield, Va. Viewing will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the chapel. Interment will be in the Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens cemetery Suffolk, Va. Professional Services are entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
