Nelson C. Holloman

On Monday January 10, 2022, God sent angels down to The Gardens at Warwick Forest in Newport News, Virginia to honor our father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather Nelson C. Holloman with his wings. Nelson was born to Ralph and Maggie Holloman on February 17, 1947. He attended Isle of Wight public Schools and graduated in 1966. Straight out of high school, Nelson was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. After returning home he met Mary Ellen Newby. They married and were blessed with two daughters, Carlita and Melisa. He was blessed with a son Gerald Bailey. Nelson enjoyed listening to old school music, playing solitaire and doing crossword puzzles. He loved dogs and fast cars. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joe Ralph Holloman and his sister Magalene H. Evans. His memory will be forever cherished by his daughters Carlita Mosley (Tony) of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Melisa Pierce (Alondo) of Newport News, son Gerald Bailey (Kanitra) of Newport News, Virginia, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters: Peggy Ann Evans and Clarice Gwaltney of Smithfield, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Nelson will be truly missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00pm on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Shivers Funeral Chapel BY INVITATION ONLY.
