June 28, 1944 — August 16, 2018

Nathan H. Ferrson, age 74 of New York, beloved son of the late James Farrison (Ferrson) and Rozena Trippett and the husband of Rosetta Ferrson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 16th2018 at home surrounded by those he loved. Nathan was born on June 28th1944 in the Bronx.

The family moved to Queens, NY and settled in Queens Bridge Housing Project around 1948. Nathan enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 and was Honorably Discharged after 6 years of service. He began dating his soulmate Rosetta in 1963 and later married her in November of 1966.

Nathan worked for the ASPCA for approximately 20 years becoming a Manager, before leaving and pursuing other career opportunities. He later obtained a Management position with Taco Bell for several years. His love of animals lead him to his employment with the Aqueduct Race Track and Nathan retired from the New York City Housing Authority as an Environmental Specialist in 2009.

At the age of 8 years old during his time with the Fresh Air Fund Organization, not knowing how to swim himself, he saved a 3 year old little girl from drowning in a lake. This became the catalyst for Nathan becoming the self-proclaimed Swimming Instructor of Queens at the city pool and Jones Beach. Nathan enjoyed playing paddle ball, football, was a remarkable swimmer and in his later years liked to play golf. He was an avid reader, chess player, a lover of history and was a neighborhood Doo Wop singer in his early years. It was all in God's plan that he be a mentor and father figure to countless young people and was affectionately referred to as "Daddy" by many.

He is preceded in death by his sibling's; George Francis Trippett, Deanna James, Jacqueline Gilmore, Mary Jane Butler, James Trippett and Hester Padgett. He is survived by his wife Rosetta Ferrson, his sister; Karen Trippett-Lewis, his daughters; Norita Ferrson-Powell (Son-n-Law, Michael Powell) and Liana Ferrson, his grandchildren; Justin Powell, Isaiah Bazemore, Taniek Powell, Donnetta Powell and a host of family and friends.

Nathan was loved by all who encountered him and left a lasting imprint in all of our hearts.
