Monica Lavoris Towns was born October 13, 1961, the 6th child born to Rufus and Carol Eley Towns. On April 13, 2017, Monica also known as "Aunt Mean" slept away peacefully to meet her Heavenly Father. She was educated in the Suffolk Public Schools. Her love of children was evident in the many nieces and nephews that she raised over the years, as well as being a well known loving babysitter in the community. She loved her family dearly and made them a priority. Monica knew how to keep the spirit joyous. She always was telling jokes or saying something to make you laugh. Monica was her mothers best friend and confidant. You would always see them out together shopping, riding, or enjoying each other's company. Monica was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her two sons, Kenji Towns of Newport News,Va and Valente Towns (Tylisha) of Smithfield, Va; parents Rufus and Carol Towns of Suffolk, Va; two sisters, Annette Harrell and Carolyn Crocker (Jeffery), both of Suffolk,Va; brothers Charles Eley, Rufus Towns, Jr (Crystal) and Rev. Morris Towns (Stacey), all of Suffolk, Va; five grandchildren; a special friend, Carlos Rick's, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends, a brother Carrollton Eley, predeceased her. A Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Diamond Grove Baptist Church, Suffolk, Va. Viewing will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 from 4-7PM at the chapel.
