On May 7, 2016 one of God's angels was sent to Smithfield, Virginia and peacefully escorted Michael Ray Wellons to his heavenly home. Michael Ray Wellons was born December 11, 1957 to the late Herman Lee Wellons Sr. and Martha Elizabeth Hill Wellons. Michael is a graduate of Windsor High School. "Boss Hogg" as he was affectionately known, was the husband of Charlotte Jones Wellons and the father of Na'Tashia Wellons and LaVelle Jones. Michael was employed for 22 years at Smithfield Meat Packing as a pork loin trimmer and 11 years at Walmart Distribution Center DC 6088 as a PE driver until his health declined. Michael joined Solomon's Temple on January 27, 2008 where he served faithfully on the Men's Ministry and as Assistant Contact Person on the Couple's Ministry. He was a member of the Redd Foxx Racing Club formed in memory of his father. His hobbies included baseball, bike riding and horse shoe. He leaves to cherish his loving memories to his wife Charlotte Jones Wellons; daughters Na'Tashia Wellons and LaVelle Jones; grandchildren Keionte Wellons, Rondre Jones, Destiny Beamon, LaVion Holland and Jaylin Clarke; one godson Eric Weaks and one goddaughter Morgan Weaks; four brothers Herman Lee Wellons Jr. (Erica), Shelton Wellons, Steve Wellons (Karen) and Allen Wellons (Donna); three sisters Tammy Wellons Rawls (Terry), Dana Wellons Cary (Robert), and Wendy Wellons Johnson (Morse); five aunts Mary Warren, Eva Pearl Clinton (Ernest), Virginia Wise, Joyce Hill and Rev. Sharon Revelle; two uncles Retired Sergeant Major William R. Hill (Saralyn) and William Goodman and a loving host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 12pm Friday, May 13, 2016 at Shiloh Baptist Church. Public viewing will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 4- 7pm at the chapel. Interment will be in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery.
