Melvinia M. Williams

Melvinia Maria Williams, was born on November 4, 1951 to Herbert Lois Williams and the late Emma Lee Reid Williams. She attended Suffolk Public Schools and was employed at Smithfield Packing Company until retiring in January 2014 with thirty seven years of service. Melvinia was a faithful member of Christian Home Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board and the Hospitality Committee. She was a member of the OES Aspara #43 Chapter in Suffolk, Virginia for over thirty years. Melvinia is preceded in death by her mother Emma Lee Reid Williams and brother Herbert Winston Williams. She is survived by her father Herbert Lois Williams; son Martin H. Williams (Annetta) Prince George County; daughter Lenore L. Williams, Smithfield VA; twin granddaughters Anna and Anya Williams also of Prince George County; brother Benford Williams (Beverly), Hampton, VA; two sisters, Marion L Williams, Smithfield, VA, Nazarene Williams (Fayetteville, NC); a special cousin she considered a sister, Lynnette Batten, Smithfield, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Christian Home Baptist Church, Windsor, Va. Viewing will be from 4-7pm on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Christian Home Baptist Church cemetery. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
