Matthew Turner

On May 29, 2020, Matthew Turner departed this life to go to his heavenly home. He was born December 20, 1963 to the late Louise Dashiell and Moses Blanks. Matthew worked for many years in lawn maintenance and as a store attendant. He loved to work on cars and be what he thought was "a perfect handyman". Matthew was an open hearted person who helped anyone that needed him. Matthew was a loving father and friend. Being with his grandchildren brought him much joy. He enjoyed anything that allowed him to be outside and listen to music. In his words "play something that mean something". Along with his parents, Matthew was preceded in death by two brothers William Turner and Fred Eure; one sister Florence Floyd He is survived by his three children, Shana Turner, Ashley Turner (Lateisha) and Matthew Harris (Erica); one step-daughter Taennieka Hutchens (Ole); three brothers, Roy Turner (Betty), Albert Blanks, Alexander Turner and Vernon Dickens; one sister, Elsie Eure Jackson (Theodore); seven grandchildren Aumarian, Janatica, Ava, Dominique, KeeRohn,Kai leh and Lae'lah and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me (Psalm 23:4). A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Friday June 5, 2020 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Thursday June 4, 2020 from 4-6pm at the chapel. Mr. Turner is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel.
