Mary M. Faltz Stringfield

In Loving Memory

Mary M. Faltz Stringfield, lovingly known to many as Madgalene and Mae Mae, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Riverside Regional Medical Center. She was born to the late Johnnie Faltz and Violet Gray on October 4, 1940 in Southampton County, Virginia. Mary started her education in the Southampton County Public School System. She attended Southampton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing receiving her LPN license and later completed the RN program at Thomas Nelson Community College where she received her ADN. She was a compassionate and caring nurse, providing excellent care to many at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Newport News General and Riverside Hospital for over 30 years. 

She was a member of Union Hill United Church of Christ until she married her husband James R. Stringfield in 2003. Together they attended Mars Hill AME Zion Church where she was a deaconess, president of the beautification committee, member of the gospel choir, and a member of the hospitality committee. 

Mary spent many years enjoying the things she loved which were sewing, flower arranging, crossword/wordsearch, cooking, and fishing. For several years she was also a top bowler in her bowling league. She and her husband James also enjoyed taking trips in their RV with their RV club, the “Camp - ing Cardinals”. In addition, Mary was a member of the Pink Pearls Breast Cancer Foundation of Wakefield and a member of the Helena Chapter #110 Order of the Eastern Stars of Virginia, PHA. 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Novella Artis and Virginia Bolden and seven brothers, Nathaniel, Richard, John Arthur, Benjamin, Samuel, Alton and Joseph and one special cousin, Oris Crocker. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 21 years James R. Stringfield, her daughter, Sherry Valentine-Jointer (William), one niece/daughter, Gladys Canton; one nephew/son, Steven A. Faltz; two stepdaughters, Sandra Stringfield and Lisa Prescot; one step grandson, Lamar (Ashley); five step grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Faltz; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Holloman, Barbara Faltz and Gladys Faltz; two brothers-in-law, Freddie Stringfield and John Stringfield (Cheryl); one devoted niece, Katrina Faltz; four special cousins, Yvonne Warren, Russell Stith, Allen Stith (Alveda) and Wendell Stith; two special friends, Barbara Jackson and Lavern Stith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

On Saturday, October 12, 2024 a Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00pm at Union Hill UCC Sedley, VA.  Viewing will take place two hours prior to the service from 11am-1pm.  Please keep the Stringfield family  in your prayers.
