Marionette Mason

Marionette Mason, 70, departed this life on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Laurel, Maryland. She was born August 5, 1946 to the late Ethel Williams Mason (Bailey) and Jessie Lee Mason. She attended the Suffolk Public Schools and was a helpful home maker and babysitter until her health began to decrease. Marionette was very active in the Little Bethel Baptist Church, Chuckatuck Station, Suffolk, Virginia since her youth. She served in the choir, ushers, hospitality, Sunday School and missionary ministries as best as she could whenever she could. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandmother who reared her and other cousin together, Mrs. Melvinia Williams Batten. Marionette was also preceded in death by her brother William Henry Mason and sister Jacqueline Williams. Survivors include her only son Courtney "Wendell" Mason (Carolyn); four grandchildren, Shakila, Ashawn, Jermaine and Malik; four great-grandchildren, Alicia, Elijah, Princeton and Paighton; foster brother, Michael Banks; foster sister, Marion Lois Williams; a very special niece with whom she resided, Gwendolyn Bethea (Dock); great niece Bailey Bethea and great nephew Douglas Edwards, loving cousins and other family that adored her. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Little Bethel Baptist Church, Suffolk (Chuckatuck), Va. Viewing will be from 4-7pm on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Shivers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Christian Home Baptist Church cemetery, Windsor, Va. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.

Burial Date March 21, 2017

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Little Bethel Baptist Church, Suffolk (Chuckatuck), Va. Viewing will be from 4-7pm on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Shivers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Christian Home Baptist Church cemetery, Windsor, Va. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
