Mamie Lee Boling Thomas Cone answered her summons Sunday February 2, 2020 in the afternoon in the comfort of her home. Mamie Cone nonagenarian was born Wednesday June 1, 1921 to her Parents Joseph Fisher and Mamie Lee Wayne Boling in Schuyler, VA. She was the last surviving sibling to Hattie, Toni, Carrie, Mary Jane, John, Haywood, Blaine, Joe and Frank Sr. Boling. She married Paul William Thomas in 1947. They were blessed with two daughters who survive her. Addell Kay Pauling (John) of Winnsboro, SC and Dr. Paula Jean Thomas of Detroit, Michigan. She was also married to the late Jimmie L. Cone. Mamie Cone had a passion for teaching. She prepared herself to teach by obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree Collegiate ProfessionalEndorsements inHome Economics, English and Social Science. She taught for a year and five months in Albermarle County, two years in Sussex County and forty years in Isle of Wight County retiring in 1995. Her time spent in Smithfield was teaching Reading and Home Economics at Smithfield Elementary School (now Westside Elementary School) and serving in Christian Education at Hill Street Church (now Main Street Church) in Smithfield, VA. She served faithfully as teacher of Junior Class #2, Superintendent, 2nd Division of the Tidewater Union, VBS, member of the Senior Choir, Miriam Song, Missionaries, Wednesday Night Prayer and Bible Study and a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. The legacy of Mamie Thomas Cone lives in in the lives of her two Daughters, her several nieces and nephews and extended family and caregivers ,Melvin, Carnell and Ashley Raines Gwaltney who she considered her granddaughter. Mamie Cone's labors and trials are over. She is resting now until the day the Lord calls her and rewards for her work done on the earth. We bow to a greater Will than our own and rest in the knowledge that one day we will be united with again, in joy and in the fullness of God's mercy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1pm Friday February 7, 2020 at Main Street Baptist Church Smithfield, VA. Viewing will take place Thursday February 6, 2020 from 4-7pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Mamie is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1pm Friday February 7, 2020 at Main Street Baptist Church Smithfield, VA. Viewing will take place Thursday February 6, 2020 from 4-7pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Mamie is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel.
