~ A Life Well Lived~
Early Tuesday Morning our beloved brother, uncle, and friend Louis McDuff Wellons, Jr. 70, “Lou Lou” made his final request and departed this life Tuesday November 5, 2024 at Portsmouth Health and Rehabilitation. Louis was the first born from the union of the late Louis Wellons Sr. and Doretha Wellons on January 20, 1954, in the Historic Riverview Community of Smithfield, Virginia.
At an early age Louis accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and was an active member of Little Zion Baptist Church until his health declined. In the church he rendered his tenor voice in the Male Chorus. In his early years his voice was known in the Antioch Baptist Church Choir. Growing up Louis played guitar in a band he and some of his friends had created. Known as K & T Productions where he not only sang but played the guitar.
Louis was a 1973 Graduate of Smithfield High School. Upon his completion of High School, Louis went on to be employed at Huntington Ingalls Industries, and later Smithfield Packing. At home Louis was known for catalog shopping. He always wore the nicest clothes and suites. Every evening at 7pm you could find him watching “Wheel of Fortune” with a cold Pepsi and a Honey Bun nearby. During football and Basketball season he loved watching the games. When visiting him in the nursing home, you could count on his smile and “HEY THERE” followed by "Did you bring me a soda?’
Louis is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Doretha Wellons, and his sister, Glender Wellons. Left to cherish his memories are his sisters, Faith A. Wellons (MacArthur), Nina Howard (Charles); two aunts, Rosalee Robertson, and Jean Shivers; three nephews Renaldo (Tiffany) Charles Howard, China Howard, and Sebastian Wellons; as well as one Great-niece Brianna McClary and one Great - Nephew Jayce Wellons, and a host of extended family.
