Lonnie Junius "Motor" Robinson

August 1, 1951 — January 20, 2025

On January 20, 2025, God sent his Heavenly Angels to Sentara Complex Hospital in Hampton, VA, to bring his son Lonnie Junius "Motor" Robinson 73, to peaceful rest. A native of Carrollton VA, Lonnie was born on August 1, 1951, the eldest of the late Bainbridge "Hoopie Cat" and Mary Frances Byrd-Robinson.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his son Lonnie Junius “Scooby-Doo” Mann, his brother Reginald Jordan, and a bonus son, Jamar Ford.

Lonnie loved the Lord and accepted Christ at a young age and joined Campbell's Chapel AME Church, where he remained a faithful member until the Lord called him home. He served as an Usher for 20 plus years, on the Trustee Board for 12 years, on the August birthday committee ( organized a motorcycle ride to raise money for the August birthday group), and cut grass at the church 10 years until his health began to decline. He was a Merritt Trustee and received a Merritt Trustee award recognizing his dedication, diligence, and perseverance as he carried out the work of the Lord.

In his spare time he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle (President of the former Joy-Riders Motorcycle Club), fishing on his boat and watching his favorite NFL team (Washington Redskins/Commanders), and working on cars for family and friends.

He would be busy working on a project, hard to the grind of daily life with a smile on his face. He would talk a hole in your head on any subject (that's how he got the name "Motor"). You had to be quick on the draw when talking to him because he always said, "I Gotta Go!" He was employed at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 34 years until retirement, also at Cashwells Appliances Store for 13 years until his health began to decline.

Lonnie loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. He would be napping in his favorite recliner while watching TV with Cynthia his "sweetie", who says feels the special place and time was God's purpose for their lives and will forever treasure their blessing of us.

His precious memory will be cherished by his loving wife Cynthia Ford-Robinson of Carrollton, VA; two sons Cory Bain Robinson, Sr. of Carrollton, VA; Antonio Hunt of Newport News, VA; one daughter, Andrea "Princess" Trotter (Derrick) of Hampton, GA; two bonus daughters; Kiera Ford of Hampton VA; and Chamia Burr (Danell) of Richmond VA; 19 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one brother Nathaniel Robinson of Hampton VA; three sisters, Rose Urquhart (Ronell) of Waverly VA, Lori Davis of Chesapeake VA and Frances Johnson (Kerry) of Portsmouth VA. One devoted brother-in-law Lonnie Ford of Franklin VA; four sisters-in-law Constance Ford (devoted) of Franklin VA, Bonnie Madison of Franklin VA; Janice White of Suffolk VA and Della Rooks of Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives and friends, four of them devoted ; Carlton Croker, Kevin Robinson, Darryl Godwin, and Edwin Hunter.

On Thursday, January 30, 2025, Viewing will take place from 3-6 p.m. at Shivers Funeral Chapel. at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, a Celebration of Life will be held at Campbell's Chapel A.M.E.
