Laura B. Batten

Laura B. Batten was born on October 12, 1934 to the late Sally Bailey and Russell Newby. She departed this life and entered eternality on Wednesday, July 08, 2015 at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Virginia. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was an employee of Gwaltney of Smithfield for over twenty-five years. She retired in 1996.  Laura was preceded in death by her husband Odell Otis Batten and two sons, Larry and Kenneth Batten.

Laura leaves honor and cherish her memory her children, Reginald(Gloria)Batten, Gilda Batten, Dexter(Sharon)Batten, Carlos Batten and Chrielya Roberts; daughter-in-law Irene Batten; two sisters Ruby (Milton)Wiggins and Ernesteen Batten; two brothers Ernest Bailey and Calvin (Germaine)Batten; special friend Elnora Holland; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and many loving nephews, nieces, and friends.  

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at New Bethany UCC. Viewing will be held from 4-7 Monday, July 13, 2015 at the chapel and one priorto the service at the church.
