Larnell Ricks

Larnell Ricks was born on April 13, 1939 and drifted into eternal rest on April 6, 2022 at his residence in Portsmouth, VA. He was the son of the late James A. Ricks and Nannie C. Ricks. He was proceeded in death by two of his siblings, James T. Ricks, Jr., and his twin sister Mozell R. Brown. "Pops" ag he was lovingly called worked at Kirk Lumber Company for over 17 years. For over 43 years, he worked at Gwaltney of Smithfield, VA and helped family and friends as a carpenter. He served as a trustee for many years at New Jones Grove Baptist Church. For several years he attended New Creation Community Church. Later on, he found his covering at New Paul's Temple Holiness Church of Suffolk, VA. He leave to cherish his wife, Catherine G. Ricks and three daughters, Phyllis R. Major , Deborah T. Golden, and Ruby (Ann) Wilson; two siblings, George W. Ricks and Floyd C. Ricks; nine grandchildren; Erish, Shakinah, Cornelious, Carlton, Tagharra, Shemese, Pierre, Scottie, Marquatty, three great grandchildren Nizhoni, Alayia and Uryiah; three god-daughters, Angela Dixon, Starina Williams and Ashley Williams; and a host of other family and friends that truly loved him. A Memorial Service will be held 11am on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Ricks family in your prayers.
