Judy A. Booker

Judy Alesia (Tyler) Booker departed her life on Friday June 21, 2024 at her residence. She is now resting with her parents Edna Tyler and father Andrew Johnson and her husband and best friend Kenith (Kenny) Booker.

She was born on June 30, 1958, to the late Edna Tyler and Andrew Johnson in Smithfield, Virginia. Judy graduated from Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School in Baltimore, Maryland in 1976. 

In September of 1978 she married, Kenny Booker of Zuni, Virginia. They were married for 22 years and remained the best of friends after their divorce. She worked within the Newport News Public Schools with children for several years and as an Assistant Manager at Dollar Tree.

Judy was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, niece, aunt, and friend. Judy enjoyed spending time with her family. Judy was reserved but was generally seen smiling enjoying being in the presence of her loved ones. She enjoyed watching tv, cooking, eating, and catching up with relatives.

She will forever live on through the memory of her three children Daryl Booker Sr. of Hampton, VA Tamika Booker of Hampton, VA and Naeemah Touré of Newport News, VA; her sisters Joyce Blow-Jordan (Patrick) of Newport News, VA, Towanda (Dee-Jay) Moss of Virginia Beach, VA, and Sherrita (Frank) Washington of Montgomery County, PA; grandchildren Deja Booker, Daryl Booker Jr., Auriel Booker, Zion Booker, Jailyn Tyler, Daryl Booker Ill, and Damien Booker, nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as friends.

A Memorial Celebration will be held 11am Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Booker family in your thoughts and prayers.
