Joseph Liggins Jr.

Hampton- Joseph "Huss Liggins, Jr. 68, passed quietly and peacefully with his family by his side into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Sentara Careplex Hospital , Hampton, Virginia. He was a native of Hampton Virginia and the oldest son of the late Joseph and Thessieal Mae Liggins. Joseph fondly known as "Huss Liggins" was a 1968 graduate of Georgia Tyler High School. Huss retired from Virginia Department of Transportation. A family bond knitted so closely, this will be a large break in his family chain. Huss was devoted to his family and friends and was loved by many He was a caring and loving person. Being the oldest of seven siblings, he was the protector. He took his role as being the oldest very serious. Huss was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Windsor, Virginia He was very active in his church. He was a member of the Security Team, SBC Hospitality, the Usher Ministry, The Voices of Shiloh Choir and SBC Male Chorus where he loved singing and praising God. He was always available to aid the church and church family whenever it was a need. Huss Liggins was a "Diehard Dallas Cowboys Fan" Huss is survived by his loving wife, Carol Perry Liggins, who he married on December 4, 2004. He also leaves his 90 year old mother, Thessieal Mae Liggins, One son, Joseph "Lil Huss" Liggins, III; three daughters, Joy Mack as he fondly called her his baby girl, Tracey Cotton, and Penny Hamlin. Five grandchildren, Josiah, Joshua, Cohen, Mason and Zayvion. Three step children, Tanisha Cline, Dawn Edmonds and Jovan Ward. Eight step grandchildren; Jordan, Cameron, Jaxon, Alyssa, Effie, Dejah, Taylor and Caiden. He also leaves six very close knitted siblings: Brenda Liggins, Linda Stokes, Edward Liggins, Calvin Liggins, Vanessa Benton and Keith Liggins. A mother in law, Mildred Perry, four sisters in law; Phyllis Perry, Patricia Askew, Yvonne Overton, and Cynthia Spencer and four brothers in law Chris Perry, Keith Perry, Cornell Perry, and Donnie Perry. A host of nieces, nephews and very close friends. The family will be meeting at the home of Huss and Carol in Hampton, VA. Visitations for family and friends will be on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 from 4 to 7pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life for Huss will be Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 12:00 Noon, Shiloh Baptist Church, 9000 Fire Tower Rd. Windsor, Virginia. Interment will be in SBC Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held 12pm Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Windsor,VA. Interment will be at the Shiloh Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 26th from 4-7pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield,VA . Professional Services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
