In Memory
On January 18, 2024, God reached out and touched the switch to cut off the earthly light. He connected the air hose that breathed the breath of eternal life. He stopped the heart from beating so the soul could get some rest, softly whispering come my way son and rest upon my breast.
Jerry was born in Suffolk, VA where he attended Booker T. Washington High School. He was a basketball player. Jerry went on to serve as a Vietnam War Veteran in the United States Army. He retired from Gwaltney, Smithfield, VA as a truck driver (Easy Dan) for 19 years, he also worked at the Veterans Hospital in Hampton, VA.
Jerry was predeceased by his mother, Hattie; father, Elijah; brother, Jerome E. Pittman; and special cousin, Eula Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 49 years, Josephine P. Pittman (China Doll); two children, Sophia A. Simms of Smithfield, VA and JaVaar L. Pittman (LaTwanda) of Suffolk, VA; sisters, Hattie Brown (Harvey) of Philadelphia, PA, Sudie Thrasher (Eldon) Mizpah, NJ, Debora Sears (Hersey Jr.) of Suf[1]folk, VA, Patricia Ashe of Chester, PA, Kaye Walton of Suffolk, VA; brothers, Michael Pittman (Jaqué) of Lancaster, SC and Ronnie Robinson of Suffolk, VA; cousins, Jackie Payne (Roy) of Newport News, VA; four grandchildren, Shaquille T. Simms, JaQuan Scott, Jayla Pittman, JaYvaar Pittman; and great great grandson, Jah’mari Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
On this day we find it very difficult to say good-bye but we thank the Lord for his life and precious memories
