Elder Jerry Vonzel Joyner, Sr., entered peacefully into heavenly rest on October 8, 2022. Elder Joyner was born on February 13, 1961 in Suffolk, VA to the late Thadeous (TJ) Joyner Jr. and Jacqueline Joyner. Elder Joyner was preceded in death by: Thadeous Joyner Jr.(father), Jacqueline Joyner(mother), Joycelyn Austin(sister), Jackie Joyner Sr.(brother). Elder Joyner grew up in Windsor, VA and attended Georgie Tyler High School. Elder Joyner graduated in 1979 from Windsor High School. He loved many sports and was super athletic. His favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. Elder Joyner also attended Norfolk State University. Elder Joyner was employed and retired from Local 980 Labor Union. Elder Joyner also had his SuperMan landscaping business for many years. Elder Joyner had numerous skills and hobbies such as Fishing, Hunting, Gardening, Landscaping, Scaffolding, Cooking, Scrapping, Construction, Mechanical, Motorcycle riding, and Farming. Elder Joyner always had a strong passion for God. His love and passion for God grew even stronger, when he completely gave his life to Christ; and was blessed to be ordained an Elder November 21, 2021. Elder Joyner knew he had little time to look back and not do GODS WILL. You would see him serving at Spending Time With Jesus Ministries. You would see Elder Joyner in a truck, jeep, or whatever he could haul his trailer on to complete the job. Elder Joyner wouldn’t ask many people for anything. He would figure out himself or go to GOD in prayer! Regardless of anything he was doing, he would stop and help anyone. He loved and cherished all of his family and would often talk and reminisce about them. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: wife Anita “Peaches” Joyner, children: Corey (Tanya), Carlos, Mashonda (Rakeem), LaSherra (Akeem), Jerry Jr., Brittany (Colin), Tatiana, William (Mary), and I’sis. One brother Eric (Pat), Three sisters, Stormetta (Daren), Denise (Jeri), Joy (Giovanni). He was blessed to have 9 grandchildren: Uhmadre, Shaniyrah, Corey Jr., Edward Jr. Skylar, Colin Jr., Cameron, Alexus, and Nick. Elder Joyner leaves also to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. A Memorial service will be held 12:00 Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Shivers Funeral Chapel.
