When Jerrene Vanessa Cuffey boarded flight 100330-42023 in Smithfield, VA, there were four passengers already on board; her father Jeremiah H. Cuffey, Sr.; her mother Ira Greene Cuffey; her big sister Delvin and her family brother James, all of whom preceded her in death.

God’s Heavenly Flight taxied down the runway, but had to make a stop for Jerrene’s Brown’s AME Church family to board where she was baptized as an infant.

Just before takeoff, her two younger brothers Jeremiah and Sonnie boarded the flight, both of whom preceded her in death. Jerrene’s flight continued until it was time for her educational family to board. The first to board was the group from Isle of Wight Training School followed by her Morgan State University family. As her 92 years, 6 months, 17 days Heavenly Flight continued. During her next stop her educational co-workers and students boarded. Boarding Zones 1 and 2 were her Surry County Public School family along with her Isle of Wight County School family. Last boarding before her final destination will include family and friends bringing “EXTRA JOY to her life. Please do not skip a seat because this flight will be a full when boarding is complete.

Now boarding grandchildren: Tanisha, Jonelle, Larry, Jerrene, John, Gabriella, Karen and Karol. Next group to board included the great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Alonna, Johnnie, Aribella, Jaxon, Maria, Jose’ and Adrian. Calling Wesley, Janeen and Zyria-all god children- to board along with the last two Champanettes, Hazel and Kaye.  Last call for passengers on God’s Heavenly Flight. Calling nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; please board. Doors will close in 10 minutes.

Jerrene’s loving memories will be especially cherished by her loving and devoted children: John (Vianka) and Joahn (Larry);grandchildren; Tanisha, Jonelle, Larry (Nicole), Jerrene (Josiah), John (Ashley) and Gabriella; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Johnnie, Alonna, Aribella and Jaxon; Godchildren Wesley, Janeen and Zyria, mother of Jonelle and John, Bonita; sisters in law Marian, Catherine, Amanda and Delores; special friend Greg Chapman and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and former students.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Brown's A.M.E. Church, Smithfield, Virginia. Viewing will take place Friday, April 28, 2023 from 3-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Yeoman family in your thoughts and prayers.
