The Life of Jarvis Da’Von Thomas
The morning of January 4, 1991, the birth of a boy child came into this world and was given only one week on the earth so said the earthly doctors. The heavenly doctor had plans for this little boy and he became known as Jarvis. Although he had a lot of health issues, Jarvis didn’t give in to any of them.
Because of his medical condition, Make-A-Wish chose Jarvis to go on a vacation along with his mom Angela, aunt Edwinna (deceased) and cousin Twain. His mom said Jarvis was afraid of everything and at the age of four who wouldn’t be, seeing all that he saw. Life kept moving for Jarvis allowing him to make several cruises. He never complained about his health.
Jarvis was a child of God. His grandparents Edwin and Thelma Thomas (deceased) along with his mom Angela and his aunts Edwinna and Sherry (deceased) could be found at Mt. Tabor on Sunday mornings.
Jarvis was educated in the schools in Isle of Wight where he graduated in 2010. Not stopping here, he went on to a Votech School (Pruden) in Suffolk, Virginia learning the art of cooking. He was employed with Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, Virginia until his health began to decline.
Jarvis loved to dress and man, oh man was he coordinated from top to bottom especially his cool socks… that was Jarvis.
As a member of Mt. Tabor C.O.G.I.C. he worked with the sound system, Young Men for Christ, and Praise Team, determined to live right.
Jarvis and his uncle had talked about going on a fishing trip along with some of his cousins, but his health started failing and he was unable to make the trip. A group from his church were also in the midst of taking him fishing.
Jarvis was very attentive to his mom when she came home after her transplant doing his best to make sure she wasn’t over doing it. His mom had to return to Richmond and his aunt Evelyn and uncle Randy took turns driving Jarvis to visit with his mom. A few days before he was admitted to the hospital, he posted his last video. Man was he shouting and praising his God.
On Wednesday June 12, 2024, Jarvis, surrounded by family, had enough. God called him to his heavenly home. As those pearly gates swung open, he was greeted by his grandparents Edwin and Thelma Thomas. Jarvis moved further down those golden streets where he met his two aunts Sherry Wyatt and Edwinna Thomas. Other family members were there to greet him also.
Jarvis leaves to cherish his memory mom Angela Thomas and Dad Ervin Clarke (Clarice); sister Erica Wilkins (Darryl); brothers Da’quan Hill and Ervin Clarke III; grandmother Phyllis Clarke (Ervin Sr. – deceased); aunts Evelyn Willis (John – deceased), Jean Thomas and Nakita Binns; uncles Randy Addison (Sabrina), Troy and Tyrell Clarke; godmothers Edna Addiston Hamilton and Ivy Spivey; god sister Katrina Addison; godbrothers Gregory Wells, Herbie and Evan Porter; great aunts and uncles, a host of cousins and friends and besties Jasmine Bowden and Jasmine Goodman.
