Janice Cypress

Janice Cypress transitioned from this life Saturday, April 1, 2023, in Smithfield, VA.

Janice was born to her parents Charles and Eulala Taliaferro Cypress. She grew up in a loving home with her siblings. She graduated from Smithfield High School in 1980 and was employed by Eurest Dining Services. She was extremely quiet and loved to cook and bake. Her family loved her sweet potato pies.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Vanessa Cypress Mason, her brothers; Edward Cypress, Andria Cypress, Charles Cypress and Phillip Cypress. She is survived by her loving children, son Erik (Coreatha) Cypress and daughter Raven (Dekada) Edwards. Janice’s memory is treasured by her 11 grandchildren, brothers; Larry (Kim) Cypress, Anthony Cypress and John Cypress, her sisters; Rose (Amos) Atkins, Charlotte Dennis and Annette Osborne, two aunts; Sadie Reid Hampton, VA and Frances Cutler, Smithfield, VA, and one uncle, Harold Taliaferro, Philadelphia, PA.  Janice, a lovely rose, will be missed and never forgotten.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00am on Friday, April 07, 2023 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place on Thursday, April 06, 2023 from 3-6pm at the chapel. Please keep the Cypress family in your prayers.
