Mr. James Walton, Sr., 87, transitioned from this earthly journey on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at his residence.
He was born to his parents Qubil Walton and Fannie Jordan Wilmer in the Driver section of Suffolk, VA on August 30, 1934. He was raised by his grandmother Mrs. Liddie Jordan after the death of his mother when he was 6 months old. His time of learning was spent in the Public Schools in Suffolk, VA, and life experiences. James was employed by the Naval Supply Center in Norfolk, VA. He was also employed by the Suffolk Police Department and Louise Obici (now Sentara Obici Hospital) in the Security Department.
James was a member of Christian Home Baptist Church, Windsor, VA. James was a Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved to travel, hunt, fish and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. James’ two brothers preceded him in death Henry Wilmer and Frankie Wilmer.
James is survived by his loving wife Evoria Joe Walton of 70 years and his son, James Walton, Jr.; three sisters; Carolyn Wilson; his twin sisters, Delores Wilmer Chappell, and Doris Wilmer and three brothers; Larry, Tyrone, and Ronnie Wilmer. A host of other relatives and friends will treasure his memory. His legacy will always be etched in our minds and hearts. We find peace and strength from our loving and merciful God.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Carver Memorial Cemetery, 2320 E. Washington St., Suffolk, Va. Viewing will take place on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 4-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Walton family in your prayers.
