James L. "Bud" Towns, 95 passed away Wednesday September 25, 2019 at Signature Health Care, Norfolk, VA. He was a native of Nansemond County and the oldest son of Matthew and Josephine Ramsey Towns. He retired as a truck driver and pavement striper. He was an Usher and member of Diamond Grove Baptist Church always ready to step in and help where he could. James was preceded in death by five sisters; Elizabeth Sharpe, Josephine Warren, Sarah Towns, Margaret Goodman and Fannie Riddick; five brothers, John Arthur, Richard, Matthew, Larry and Raymond Towns, Sr.;and a special nephew Willie Lee Towns. He leave to cherish his memory two daughters Mary Townes -Edwards and Pauline Diggs (Anthony);one grandchild Bianca Townes (Evan);two sisters Dora Harrison and Rosa Towns both of Windsor, VA; three brothers, Eddie Towns ( Mildred) Smithfield, VA, Rufus Towns (Carol) Suffolk, VA and Ernest Lee Towns (Shirley) of Windsor, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, October 1st, 2019 at Diamond Grove Baptist Church, 6890 Crittenden Rd Suffolk Va . Viewing will take place from 4-7 PM Monday ,September 30, 2019 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.

Burial Date October 1, 2019

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 AM Tuesday October 1st, 2019 at Diamond Grove Baptist Church, 6890 Crittenden Rd Suffolk Va . Viewing will take place from 4-7 PM Monday at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
