James A. Davis

James A. Davis, 77, born to the late Ashton Branch and Mattie Davis Edwards, passed away peacefully September 8, 2020 at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Va. James Davis was a dedicated employee for many years of Isle of Wight County Schools. He joined Browns AME Church, Smithfield, where he also served as an usher. Along with his parents, his daughter Norma Harvey preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Mrs. Eva Addison Davis, his children Dwight Jones (Judy), Melvin Langhorne (Nanesha), Cathy Alexander (Marvin), James Davis (Annette), William Davis (Patricia) and Chad Davis. 6 other children that he loved, Charlotte Fields, Carolyn Jones (John), Ruth Jones, Joyce Smith (Tyrone), Bill White and Ray Charles Jones. He also leaves 24 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren, One sister Eunice Woodis, Two aunts Mary Robinson and Janice Moore, One uncle Elec Branch, Cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. A Graveside Service will be held 11 am Saturday September 19, 2020 at Ebenezer Cemetery, Windsor, VA. Public Viewing will be held on Friday September 18, 2020 from 4-6 pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel.
