Iris O. Jarrett

October 11, 1942 — September 6, 2015

Iris Odessa Jarrett was called home on September 6, 2015 at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA; she was 72 years old. Iris was born on October 11,1942 in Isle of Wight County Virginia to the late Wesley and Eliza Robinson Wiggins. She attended Isle of Wight Training School and later entered the workforce to care for her family. Iris worked for many years at Gwaltney of Smithfield and Spriggs Packing Company. She retired in the early 90's and dedicated her time to babysitting her many grandchildren, helping others, and socializing within the community. Iris was a long time member of Friendship Cathedral Church of God in Christ, Suffolk, VA. She served as an Aspiring Missionary, usher, and choir member. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, gardening, and crocheting. Iris will be remembered for her tremendous strength, kind spirit, frankness, and wit. Iris is survived by her daughters Lora Jarrett, Juliette Whyte (Michael), Yvonne Scott (David), Arnette Hardy (Ricardo), Annette Howell (Eric); her sons, Darren Jarrett (Loretta), Gregory Jarrett (Patricia), and Troy Jarrett (Luetishia); her sisters Elmire Wiggins, Brenda Ward, Olydia Holland; her brothers Milton Wiggins (Ruby), Junious Wiggins (Barbara), Gene Wiggins, Cornelius Wiggins (Bertha), Dwight Wiggins (JoAnn), Ervin Wiggins (Virginia), 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Iris's love and compassion for people also led her to extend her family to include Michael and Brent Wiggins and Jessica and Cordero Harris. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 12noon at Friendship Cathedral Church of God in Christ, 5511 Godwin Blvd. Suffolk, VA. Viewing Wednesday, September 09, 2015 at the Shivers Funeral Chapel. Interment at Christian Baptist Church Cemetery, Windsor, VA.

Burial Date September 10, 2015

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 12noon at Friendship Cathedral Church of God in Christ, 5511 Godwin Blvd. Suffolk, VA. Viewing Wednesday, September 09, 2015 at the Shivers Funeral Chapel.
