Henry M. Chapman

Henry McChell Chapman ‘Big Daddy” age 64 departed this life Wednesday,  December  20, 2023 in his residence.

He was born in Isle of Wight County on October 10, 1959 to Mrs. Aldora Harper and Henry Waters.

He attended Isle of Wight County Public Schools and was a graduate of Tidewater Community College with a degree in Auto Machines.

Henry worked for Newport News Shipyard, Daily Press, Smithfield Packing and Newport News Public Schools as a Janitor.

He loved playing music in his van which he named Pearl. He loved spending time with family and friends joking around and full of fun. He could not get enough of talking on his cell phone and always had advice to give to others.

Henry was preceded in death by his son William Chapman.

He leaves to cherish his memory, brother, Larry Harper; sister Altina Puckett (Curtis); daughter Anita Chapman; son Kenya Chapman; goddaughter, Catrice Ricks “Duke” grandchildren; Dereon Hill and Aiyanna Chapman and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

On Wednesday, December 27, 2023 a viewing will take place from 3-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. On Thursday, December 28, 2023, A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held 11am at Christian Home Baptist Church Cemetery. Please keep the Chapman family in your thoughts and prayers.
