Gladys Johnson Thomas

Gladys Marie Johnson Thomas 78, transitioned from this life on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at her residence. Also known as GT, Mrs. G and Grandma was born on July 5th, 1943 to the late Wilson and Ella Mae Johnson. On Saturday, November 27th, 2021 our dear strong mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, cousin and friend went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Gladys attended Isle of Wight County Public Schools. At the age of 18 Gladys met Howard Lee Thomas. They married and from this union had 9 children. She was a faithful employee of Drucker& Faulk for over 25 years before retiring from housekeeping. She had a passion for cooking, caring, loving and taking care of people. Her specialty was cooking foods to heal the soul. Everyone loved her Mac and Cheese. Gladys loved to fish, crab, do crossword puzzles and love on her dogs Lil Bit, Popcorn and Max. She also enjoyed crocheting and going on vacations with family. She loved music. In her free time she would garden. Everyone knew she loved flowers. If you really knew her, she lived her best life at all times. Gladys leaves to cherish her memories her children; Howard L. Thomas (Diane), Alma Thomas, Solomon Thomas, Sr., (Gail) Felisa Thomas, Donnell Thomas, Shelton Thomas (Robin), Timothy Thomas (deceased), Jeffrey Thomas and Marsha Thomas(Anthony) She also leaves two devoted sisters; Joyce Ann Hill and Janice, two loving brothers; Mickey and Curtis; 18 grandkids, 23, great grandkids, several loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Gladys had several extended sons, daughters, grandkids and friends. She has touched, helped housed, molded and raised so many. She was loved by many and will be missed by many. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Saturday, December 04, 2021 at Main Street Baptist Church Mission Center BY INVITATION ONLY.
