The Life of George Wilbert Ricks

George Wilbert Ricks affectionately known as “Boy Blue” transitioned from this earthly life to his heavenly home on the morning of December 24, 2024, at his residence. George was born to the late James H. Ricks and Nannie O. Ricks on September 6, 1954, in Nansemond County, Virginia.

In his early years, George was employed at Smithfield Foods and Kirk Lumber Company as a heavy equipment operator.

George was predeceased by his parents, sister Mozell Ricks Brown, and brothers James T. Ricks, Larnell Ricks, and Floyd Ricks.

Even though George never had any children of his own, he had a very special nephew who was his primary caregiver Kenneth V. Clarke (Monica), Smithfield, Virginia and one sister-in-law Catherine Ricks. Portsmouth, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends to cherish his memory.

On Friday, December 27, 2024 viewing will take place from 3-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Chapel. Interment will be held in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Cemetery.  Please keep the Ricks family in your thoughts and prayers.
