Frank Lee Spratley, Sr.

Deacon Frank L. Spratley Sr. entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at his home. He was born December 9, 1943 to the late Sarah Lee Spratley and the late James A. Spratley. He is a resident of Smithfield, Virginia and retired from Gwaltney of Smithfield, after 34 years of service. Frank was known by family and friends as an encourager, a man of wisdom, strength, and had a quiet gentle spirit. He loved the Lord, and had no problem with sharing Gods word with anyone who he came in contact with. His favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11, " For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." He was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, and grand daddy. Frank loved his family above and beyond measure. He loved to workout at 24/7 workout anytime fitness, and lifted weights until he was unable. In 2005 he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma(blood cancer), but he never let it get him down. He lived everyday walking in healing without complaining, trusting and believing that God had him. He fought the good fight of faith, 2 Timothy4:7-8: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness , which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Linda Marie Carter Spratley, 3 children Zina Ward(Darryl), Linda Diggs, Frank Lee Spratley(Laverne), and 5 grandchildren. His siblings Sarah Ann Robinson, Eva Davis, Sandra Banks, and James Spratley, a host of nieces, nephew, co-workers and friends will sorrowfully miss him. A Celebration of Life will be held 11am Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Main Street Baptist Church Mission Center BY INVITATION ONLY.
