The Life of Florine Mable Holloman Artis

"Who can find a virtuous Woman? For her price is far above rubies"Proverbs 31:10 Florine M. Artis (aka. Flo) was born on May 15, 1935 and transitioned into her New Life of Joy and Peace on July 26, 2018, at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Florine was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Christine Holloman, her loving husband of 62 years, Willie Artis Sr; five brothers: Len Edward Holloman, Jr., Fletcher Holloman, Herman Holloman, Algie Holloman and Thurman Holloman, four sisters; Bernell Wiggins, Bernice Holloman, Eunice Wrenn and Geraldine Newby. Florine attended Isle of Wight County Training School and would later find employment with the Isle of Wight County Schools Transportation Department, where she served passionately as a bus driver for 26 years. Florine attended Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and was a member of the choir for many years. Known to all for her giving heart and loving spirit, always accepting people for who they were, never judging, and opening her arms to anyone in need of food and shelter. More than anything she loved her family unconditionally and welcomed all children into her heart and her home. She enjoyed shopping and was known for her great sense of style. She also enjoyed cooking and done so extremely well. Family and friends could always count on her for a "DELICIOUS MEAL" on Sundays and every holiday. She will forever be known to all as one who would speak her mind, (rather you wanted to hear it or not) on all matters concerning her family. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. Proverbs 31:20 Florine is survived by her two sons, Willie Artis Jr., Newport News, VA; Larry A Artis (Angela), Smithfield, VA; two daughters, Florinda E. Riddick (Arthur), Newport News, VA; Agnes L Artis, Carrollton, VA; six grandchildren, Chameka , April , Shanell, Porscha, Larry II., Tonecia, one godchild, Terri Williams, Surry, VA; eleven great-grandchildren, one brother, Earl Holloman (Josephine), Smithfield, VA; two brothers-in-law, George Wrenn and Edgar Newby, four sisters-in-law, Elnora Whitfield, Alberta Liggins, Cleo Jackson, Audrey Artis and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and Friends. "Florine will affectionately be remembered for her gracious heart, understanding nature and her compassion for people." A Celebration Of Life Service will be held 12pm Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Ivor, Va. Viewing will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 4-7pm at the chapel. Interment will be in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church cemetery. Professional services are entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.

A Celebration Of Life Service will be held 12pm Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Ivor, Va. Viewing will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 4-7pm at the chapel. Interment will be in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church cemetery. Professional services are entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
