Evelyn Thomas

Evelyn R Thomas (E.T./ Bae) was called home on Sunday May 1, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Willie Robertson and Ethel May Johnson on July 28, 1933. She received her schooling at Isle of Wight County training school. She worked at the Oyster house and worked in Hospitality.

Evelyn was full of life; she raised her siblings and multiple generations of her family. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed. She loved to dance and cook. She was the glue to the family. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Ethel and her siblings Frank Robertson (Mary), Jimmy Robertson (Dorothy), Margret Cross (George), Janine Tynes (James), Stanley Robertson (Ira), and Charles Robertson (Lucy). Her children Ervin Thomas (Nancy), Charles Spencer Thomas (Mary) and twins at birth. Her grandchildren Johntae Thomas and Shy’tira Thomas and her great grandchild Deandre Thomas.

She is survived by her brother Comfort (Rosa). She is survived by her children Evelyn Cooper (Gary), James Thomas, John Thomas, Janine Jones, Theresa Scott (Bobby), and Sherine Johnson (Ryan Holloway). Her Grandchildren Anthony Thomas (Wendy), Lisa Turner, Tessa Turner, Tammie Smith (Bobby), Michael Thomas, Terrance Thomas (Latoya), Toby Thomas, Andre Thomas (Monica), Corey Thomas, Cherry Thomas, Shineka Scott, Yonsmine Jefferson (Deontae), Treques Lowther, T’shyrin Lowther, Jakyra Thomas, Emonie Thomas, Destiny Thomas, Ashanti Thomas, Kiera Warren, Micaiah Scott, Trevon Lowther, Taniya Johnson and Treparis Baker. A special grandchildren Trina Deloatch and Ventwain Eason. Her great-children Andrew, Demetruis, Sarah, Timmesha, Pre’Cious, Lakedria, Diamond, Tamon, Demontre, Zyaire, Aziyah T., Amaya, Xian, Jaiden, Shenequa, Jakia, Kavon, Aziyah C, Darius, Zamiyah, Deontae Jr, Terrence, Legacy, Ah’soni, Pharoah, Armani, Neveah and Niomie, Jaimini, A’mani, Camden, Angela, Lamar, Johnathan, Moesha. Four special nieces Janine Hunt, Kathy Newby, Niva Moore and Theresa Cooper. Host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Evelyn was the true definition of a fighter. She fought to the very end.

Her Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00pm on Friday, May 06, 2022 at The Main Street Church Mission Center. Viewing will take place from 4-6pm on Thursday, May 05, 2022 at the Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Thomas is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel.
