Estelle Reese Parson

July 29, 1936 — April 24, 2024

Our beloved Estelle Reese Parson gained her heavenly crown on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Estelle, was born to Thomas and Marie Reese on July 29,1936. Estelle became a member of First Gravel Hill Baptist Church at a very young age.  Later, after marrying her late husband Raymond Parson she shared her time at Cypress Baptist Church as well. She was a very active member in both churches until her passing. She served as a Deaconess, a member of the hospitality committee, and helping with the food bank.

Estelle attended school in Isle of Wight County and was in the graduating class of 1956. After graduating, Estelle worked at the Smithfield Inn alongside her sister Margaret Reese Tynes as a server. Estelle was well known in the community and met a lot of nice people while working at the Inn. Estelle also worked at the Surry House as a waitress for many years until she retired. Although she was retired, Estelle continued to serve others by being a companion. Estelle would go sit with others and help in any way she could. Estelle continued to serve until her health declined.

Estelle loved being a mother and really loved being a Nana! She was passionate about sharing the love of the Lord with others and was an integral part of the church. Estelle was a loyal servant to God. She loved going to church. Estelle greeted everyone with a hello and smile. No one was ever a stranger to her, and she treated everyone as though she had known them forever. Now that Mom, Nana, Bear, Aunt Estelle, and Friend has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of her physical life on earth, it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey.

Estelle Reese Parson joins her late husband Raymond Parson, 7 sisters, 4 brothers, and daughter in law Lois Parson in Heaven.

Estelle's precious and loving memory will forever be cherished by her daughters, Wanda Johnson and Wendy Johnson; sons Calvin Parson Sr. (Lolita) and Carl D. Parson; grandchildren, Raven Pittman (Kevin), Carl D. Parson, II (Montasia), Jalen Johnson, Jychle Johnson, Calvin Parson Jr. (Jessica), Caleb Parson and Cayla Parson and grand dog Champ Pittman; great- grandchildren Noelle Parson, Cairo Parson, and Camden Parson; special neighbor Amy Howell; great friend Patricia Burrell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
