Mother Elnora Lee Jones, 93, was born on June 10, 1925 to the late Joshua and Frances Thomas. God saw that she was tired and a cure was not to be. He dispatched his angel on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 to bring her home knowing that he loved her best.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joshua and Frances Thomas, her sweetheart of seventy-one years of marriage Bro. Curtis Jones Sr., daughter Maxine Jones Johnson, three brothers Wesley, Tommie, and Alkanah, and one sister Joyce.
She went to school in Hobson. On December 2, 1944 she married Curtis Jones Sr. From this union Maxine and Curtis Jr. were born. Curtis Sr. and Elnora were a good example of the marriage vows "until death do us part." Mother Jones was a wife and good home maker. She took care of her husband and children.
She got saved at a young age and kept the faith to the end. Her church membership started in Macedonia and eventually she became a member of Mt. Lebanon. Later she became a member of Sweet Haven Holy Church of God under the leadership of Bishop King David Johnson where she served on the Mother's Board. This is when her husband accepted Christ in his life. But Pop Jones was a home boy and he loved Hobson so they came back home to Mt. Lebanon C.O.G.I.C.
Mother Elnora was a faithful member of Mt. Lebanon. She attended and loved Sunday school, morning worship, Bible study, and Y.P.W.W. services. She was appointed Church Mother and supported the church faithfully financially.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son Deacon Curtis Jones Jr. (Shirley Mae) of Chesapeake, four grandchildren Alphonso, Shawn, Curtis III, and Pam Johnson Austin, sister Denise Silver of New York, brother Pernell Thomas of New York, special daughter Mother Nellie Townes of Chesapeake, VA, special son Min. Herman Terrell of Isle of Wight County, special niece Sula Lee of Newport News, VA, a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, extended family and friends, and of course the Mt. Lebanon Church family.
