I will not let my heart be troubled. In my Father’s house there are many mansions. If it wasn’t so Jesus would have told me. Jesus said ’He was going to prepare a place for me, but He has already prepared a place for Dexter.
On Monday February 28, 2022 The Lord finished preparing a Mansion for Dexter. Dexter was born September 17, 1963. Dexter Irvin Batten went to live in his heavenly Mansion on February 28, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Otis Odell Batten and Laura Batten. Dexter attended Smithfield High School. He accepted Christ at an early age at New Bethany Christian Church where he worshipped faithfully until his sickness prevented him. He was employed at Gwaltney Packing Plant for seventeen years until illness prevented him and at CHKD for ten years. He resigned from CHKD because of illness. Dexter was also preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Kenneth Batten and his daughter Kiera Carter.
He leaves to cherish his precious and loving memories, his loving wife Sharon, his sons; Derek Boone, Sr., (Lauren) his daughter, Shannon Brooks (Dion, Sr) sisters: Gilda Batten, Barbara Clarke, Chrielya Roberts and Marcella Allen, brothers; Reginald Batten(Gloria) and Carlos Batten, sisters in law; Juanita Sharp and Cheryl Long (Edward), his brothers in law; Daniel Carter (Marilyn) and Gregory Carter (Renea),his grandchildren; Derek Boone, Jr., Destiny Boone, Dionna Brooks, Dion Brooks, Jr., Dineem Brooks and Dioz Brooks, three great-grandchildren, uncles; Jake and Calvin (Germaine)aunts; Ruby(Milton) Shirley (Seth), Frances, Kathy and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Let’s go to your beautiful Mansion.
