Delois Mason

On Sunday, January 16, 2022, our beloved sister Delois Etta Mason, affectionally known to family and friends as “Duck,” peacefully departed this life at the Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. Delois was born on May 22, 1951 in Smithfield, VA.

She was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Charlotte Mason. Delois accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the First Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Rushmere, VA.  Delois was a dedicated and faithful member until her health began to fail. Although she suffered from many medical issues throughout her lifetime, they never stopped her from doing all that she could for her church and for her family. Delois never gave up loving her family, whom she loved unconditionally, or loving her church. While a resident at Riverside Convalescent Center in Smithfield, VA, she continued to visit her church whenever possible.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents and leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: one sister, Sylvia Mason of Smithfield, VA; one brother, Roy Townsend (Stephanie) of Carrollton, VA; one niece, JaShayla Mason of Smithfield, VA; two nephews, Thaddeus Mason and Cleveland Taylor, III, both of Hampton, VA; and a host of other loving cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 am Wednesday January 26, 2022 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 4-6 pm. Ms. Mason is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Mason family in your thoughts and prayers.
