David Porter, Jr.

David Porter 75, transitioned from this earthly life Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, VA. He was born March 11, 1946 in Isle of Wight County, VA to his parents the late David and Nora J. Porter. He accepted Christ and joined Jones Grove (now New Jones Grove) Baptist Church Windsor, VA. and later became a a faithful member of Living Word Ministries. David graduated from Georgie Tyler High School in 1965. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy in Vietnam and Japan. David received the Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. Upon his return home he was employed by Planters Peanuts. David was preceded in death by his brother Samuel along with his parents. Left to treasure his memories are his sisters, Blanche Holliman, Nora Porter, and Ivy Spivey (Charles). He will also remembered by other family members and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00am on Saturday, March 05, 2022 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place from 4-6pm on Friday, March 04, 2022 at the chapel.
