David O. Judkins, Jr.

John 16:22 (NIV) Mr. David Osborne Judkins, Jr., 76, of Surry, Virginia, passed away Monday evening, January 24, 2022, at Autumn Care of Suffolk. He was preceded in death by his brothers Otis T. Judkins and Lester Charles Judkins. He was born December 4, 1945, in Surry, Virginia and was the second of 10 children born to the late David O. Judkins, Sr. and Frances H. Judkins. He lived in Surry, Virginia and attended L.P. Jackson High School in Dendron, Virginia. He was drafted into the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War reaching rank of E5 Sargeant. He was honorably discharged and received several honors and medals to include the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his courageous and brave combat actions and service. David was employed with Brown and Williamson in Petersburg, Virginia and Gwaltney Meat Packing plant in Smithfield, Virginia after getting out of the military. He later worked as a machine operator with the late John Appel at Gum Corner Farms in Elberon, Virginia for 25 years. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on vehicles, collecting coins and antiques, doing yard work, learning about the history of the County, and spending time with his family and friends. David leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Marshall R. Judkins of Surry, Virginia; three children Anthony E. Judkins of Charlottesville, Virginia; Alvin D. Judkins (Precious) of New Zealand, and Sherita D. Judkins (Kevin) of Surry, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Judkins of Surry, and six brothers, Theodore Judkins of Newark, NJ; Nelson Judkins (Angelina) of Newport News, VA; Welton Judkins (Carol) of Chesterfield, VA; Curtis Judkins of Surry, VA; Calvin Judkins (Brenda) of Jefferson, GA; and Randolph Judkins of Dale City, VA; sisters-in-laws Janice Whiting (Glen) of Claremont, VA; Linda Clayton of Surry, VA; Dana Adams (Glen) of Norfolk, VA; Melody Clayton of Newport News, VA; brother-in-law Melvin Clayton Jr., (JoAnn) of Petersburg, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00pm Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, Surry, VA. Viewing will take place one hour before the service.
