Danielle Monique Barkley

Danielle Monique Barkley, affectionately known as “Molly,” entered into sweet rest on Sunday, March 27, 2022. She peacefully departed from us at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She spent her last hours surrounded by her loving family. Danielle was born in Portsmouth, Virginia at Maryview Hospital on October 12,1985 to Hannah Melton Hutchinson and Daniel Hutchinson. Danielle received her education from the Granby High School of Norfolk, Virginia. She was employed with ChenMed Senior Medical Center as the Director of Growth and Business Development. She was with the company for ten years. Some of the highlights of her career involving her aiding in the opening of five Tidewater Centers where she grew the patient enrollment from zero to 9,500 while leading a team of just twenty. She helped spearhead, coach, and monitor MGC’s that came through the Tidewater Centers. Danielle also traveled and helped in other markets as needed. She built amazing relationships with patients and team members as well as members of the community. Filling her shoes will be a task of great difficulty. Danielle was also a Certified Insurance Agent. To know Danielle was to love her. She always met you with a smile. Her presence illuminated whatever space she occupied. This ‘DIVA” had impeccable taste in clothing, accessories, and home décor. She was especially known for things that were shiny and high end. Without a doubt, it was only the best for her and the ones she loved. Danielle was an exceptional mother to her two kings – Jahmae’ and J’zyah and what a fine job she did with them along with their dad. To share a little FYI about Danielle that a lot of people didn’t know, and that is Danielle had a lovely voice, and she loved to sing. Her smile, her laughter, and her kind unselfish heart will be greatly missed by all of us. Danielle was preceded in death by her grandfather Carl Melton, Sr., grandmother Erma Dowdy Melton, and uncle Joseph Melton. She leaves to cherish her memory two devoted sons Jahmae’ Barkley of Suffolk, VA and J’zyah Barkley of Norfolk, VA, her mother Hannah Melton Hutchinson of Suffolk, VA, her father Daniel Hutchinson of Ohio, three sisters Precious Hutchinson of South Dakota, LaTonya Heriot of Suffolk, VA and Brittney Stith of Portsmouth, VA, two nieces Soriah Heriot and Bella Stith, one uncle Carl Melton, Jr. (Phyllis) of Zuni, VA, one aunt Carol Lyttle (Glenn) of Smithfield, VA, one great aunt Myrtle Brown of Suffolk, VA and a host of cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00pm on Friday, April 01, 2022 at Shivers Funeral Chapel BY INVITATION ONLY. Viewing will take place on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 4-6pm at the chapel.
