Newport News Cynthia Ann Blunt (CY), daughter of the late Linwood Blunt and Catherine Blunt was born June 26, 1963 in Newport News, VA. She departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Cynthia was well known and loved by all that knew her. She impacted nearly everyone she encountered through her uplifting spirit and constant encouragement. Cynthia was a graduate of Menchville High School class of 1981. She attended Thomas Nelson Community College. Cynthia worked several years at AFFES, Fort Eustis, VA before suddenly taking ill. Up until her passing, she was a faithful member of Mount Zion Word and Faith Ministries in Smithfield, VA. She is preceded in death by her father Linwood Blunt Sr., and brother Larry Blunt. She leaves to cherish her memory her son DeLonte' Blunt; mother Catherine Blunt both of Newport News, VA; two brothers Linwood Blunt Jr. (Darlene) of Newport News, VA and Leon Blunt (Sharon) Hampton, VA; five sisters Linda White (Kerry) of Carrolton, VA, Gloria Gibbs (Raynard) of Smithfield, VA, Doris Epps and Odell Howard (Gene) of Newport News, VA and Goldie McMillan of Hampton, VA; three nieces, Niesha and Symone Gibbs, and Amorise White; four nephews Larry Jr., Charles and Taquane Blunt, and Kerry White Jr. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Sentara Nursing Facility for their compassionate care. The family also expresses sincere thanks to Dr. Scott Kruger, Denise and the rest of the Oncology staff at Sentara for the loving care they gave to Cynthia over the years. A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at Triumph Christian Center, 3509 Chestnut Ave., Newport News, VA 23607, with the interment immediately following at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will assemble at the residence by 12:00 p.m. to proceed to the church. Viewing will be on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cook Brothers Funeral Chapel, Newport News, VA. Arrangements are in the care of Shivers Funeral Chapel, 12749 Courthouse Hwy, Smithfield, VA (757) 357-9500.

Burial Date May 17, 2014

Family and friends will assemble at the residence by 12:00 p.m. to proceed to the church. Viewing will be on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cook Brothers Funeral Chapel, Newport News, VA.
