Crystal R. Melton

Crystal Renee Melton, 38, of Winterville, NC died Tuesday July 25, 2923.

Crystal was born August 31, 1984 in Nansemond County, VA and was a resident in Winterville for 10 years. She lived in Bertie County for 28 years where she started her family of 3 children.

Crystal worked at Bertie Correctional institution in Bertie County, North Carolina. She loved to travel, spend time with her family and taking care of her three children who she loved dearly and they were her greatest joy in life.

Crystal was preceded in death by her father George Hill, Jr., Joseph Melton, paternal father, grandfather George Hill, Carl Melton, Sr., and Emma Dowdy maternal grandmother.

Crystal is survived by her mother Rachel Hill Watson, Windsor, NC; her grandmother, Matilda S. Hill Surry County, VA, her three children; Kaylia Thames, Cameron Thames, and Joshua Melton, She also leaves behind her three siblings; Bridgett Smith, Tiffany Melton and Monique Melton, three aunts, four uncles and a host of nieces, nephews,  other family and friends.

Crystal will be deeply missed, loved and shall forever remain in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Friday, August 4, 2023 from 3-6pm also at the Chapel. Please keep the Melton family in your thoughts and prayers.
